Meeting Place: Mexico Chiquito
Meeting Time: 1:00 p.m.
Date: Jan. 4, 2003

Ray Sexton called the meeting to order.

December meeting minutes were read and approved.

Gina asked if there was anyone who had not received a newsletter or who had had trouble accessing it online. If so, please contact her.

Player of the Month vote was conducted. Members had a chance to lobby for their nomination.

The Treasurer’s report was distributed and approved. There was a question about what happened to the remainder of the bears that were purchased for the “Teddy Bear Toss Night.” Ray said the remaining bears were donated to the State Troopers.

Virginia made a membership report. We have 61 family groups, 91 adult boosters, and 50 junior boosters.

Virginia announced a membership drive promotion for the month of February. Greg Marsh has put together frames that will hold two pucks. The team donated the pucks for these. If a member signs up during the month of February, their name will be put in a drawing for one of the frames. If a current member refers someone who signs up, their name will be in a drawing for the second frame.

Kevin mentioned that there are only a couple potential road trips during the month of January. If anyone needs directions or tickets, they should let him know. He also said that snacks seem to be going well.

Christye announced that there were 34 people at the Junior Booster Christmas party. She sent out a big thanks to Mark Cook who played Santa. They took Polaroids of each kid with Santa and Rocky, gave them goodie bags, and played games. It was a huge success. She also mentioned that the Juniors will be conducting another chuck a puck soon – they made $319 made last time – and they will be selling programs at the Sunday and Tuesday games.

Fan Fest will take place on Thursday, Jan. 16. Gina made a report for chairman Simone Bellamy. There will be a skills competition, shots on goalie and a skate with the Blades that night. The question was asked if participants would need skates for shots on goalie? No!

Ray mentioned that we need Fundraiser ideas. If anyone has any ideas to share, please let him know.

Kandy Boor made a PARS report. We still need some sign ups for working the table. She mentioned that snacks are going well, although we lost a little bit of a money last month with the amount of away games. But with the number of home games this month, we should make that up. She mentioned the PARS members should be working on their scrapbooks and asked if anyone wanted to have a scrapbook party.

There was a question regarding merchandise sales at the booth. We may move the booth to 116 – we’re looking for a place that's open to fans and we can watch the game.

There was a question pertaining to the booster club banner.. Currently it cannot be located. Kandy offered to make another one for us.

Christye wanted to know who could help with player banners. We need to help with putting together another four player banners. Christye will send out email.

Dorothy wanted to let everyone know that the Christmas gifts for ASE were appreciated. She said that Andy had told her recently that if it wasn't for the booster club, the team couldn't do half of what it does. The front office sees and appreciates what the booster club is doing.

Ray announced the calendar of events: The end of the year banquet will be March 19, Steaks and Skates will be on Feb. 24 at about 6:30 - Golden Corral is getting aprons made with players number and name and we’ll be able to auction these table-worn aprons, bowling will take place on Mar 3 at the Professor Bowl at I-30 and Geyer Springs. We need a chairman for the bowling event and need help with Steaks and Skates. Please let Ray know if you can help.

Jack brought up the issue of getting a booster club flag. We are not sure if Alltel is set up to accommodate that and the cost would be prohibitive at this point.

The player of the month was announced: Mark Scott was voted as the December Player of the Month. Jason Bermingham and Ernie Hartlieb were close finishers.

The meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully submitted by Gina Maynard
